My Gun Collection ("the app") is a private catalog for your firearm collection. It is built so that the people who run it cannot read your catalog. This page explains what the app stores and why.
What we store
- Account: the username you choose, a salted hash used to check your password, the date the account was created, and login session tokens with a short description of the device (for example "iPhone"). Your password itself never leaves your device.
- Your catalog: every firearm record, including photos, is encrypted on your device with a key derived from your password (AES-256-GCM) before it is uploaded. Our server stores only the encrypted record, its size and the time it was last changed. We cannot decrypt it. If you lose your password, neither can you.
- Subscription status: whether your subscription is active, which plan it is and when it ends, as reported by Apple. Apple handles payment; we never see your card details.
Photo auto-fill
When you tap Auto-fill, the photos you took of the gun and its serial number are sent to our server and read by an AI model (Cloudflare Workers AI) to fill in make, model, caliber and serial. The photos are used for that single request and are not stored by the server or the model provider for that purpose. If the server is unreachable, the reading happens on your device instead.
What we don't do
- No advertising, no analytics SDKs, no tracking across apps or websites.
- We do not sell, rent or share your data with anyone.
- We do not facilitate the sale or transfer of firearms.
Service providers
Encrypted records and account data are stored with Cloudflare (Workers, D1 and R2). Subscriptions are processed by Apple.
Exports
Spreadsheet (CSV) exports you create are not encrypted. Keep them somewhere safe. Encrypted backup files (.mgc) are locked with a password you choose.
Deleting your data
Delete individual records in the app at any time. To delete your whole account and everything stored for it, open Settings → Delete account in the app; it is removed from our servers immediately. Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription — cancel that in your device's Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
Children
The app is intended for adults who legally own firearms and is not directed at children under 18.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
